Do nominee directors influence bank performance?

چکیده

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact board characteristics on performance Indian commercial banks. differs from earlier studies as it analyses Government official nominee directors and Reserve Bank India (RBI) bank performance. A panel data approach has been used in study. Particularly, fixed effect estimation technique relationship between characteristics, during period 2009–2010 2016–2017. authors find that size, female directors, average number directorships held by outside are inversely related central government RBI negatively significantly affect public sector results robust across various proxies performance, sub-samples classified basis ownership, size bank, capitalization. This provides insights policy regulators policymakers who entrusted with appointment banks light ongoing regulatory reforms
